U.S durable goods orders unexpectedly declined by 4.3% in December 2013. Forecast of economists was an increase of 1.6%. In addition, previous month’s 3.5% increase was lowered to 2.6% increase. Excluding transportation, durable goods orders declined by 1.6%. The unexpected decline in durable goods orders could affect the fourth-quarter estimates of GDP, which will be reported on January 30.
