S&P 500 closed the week with the new record level

August 29, 2014 – U.S. stock markets rose on Friday, led the S&P 500to a new closing record level. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 18.88 points or 0.11%, to 17.098,45, the S&P 500 rose 6.63 points or 0.33%, to 2.003,37 and the Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 22.58 points or 0.50%, to 4.580,27. Despite the overseas concerns, the upbeating U.S. economic data supported the markets. Today’s economic reports showed consumer confidence unexpectedly rose in August, while consumer spending dropped in July for the first time in six months.

U.S. equity markets will be closed on September 1 for the Labor Day holiday.
