Dow Jones Sees the Highest Level Since October 2007
As of January 29, U.S. markets continue to see the record levels despite the lower consumer confidence data which is the lowest since November 2011. S&P 500 index and Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.52% and 0.51%, reaching 1,502.84 and 13,954.42, respectively. Dow saw the highest closing level since October 2007. The following news led the gains:
- Better-than-estimated earnings such as from Pfizer Inc. and Valero Energy Corp.
- Investors focus on the FOMC announcement on Wednesday
- Gains in financial sector led by Goldman Sachs news that it sold its stake in Industrial and Commercial Bank of China
