US Markets Slightly Fell On Monday
As of January 28, U.S. markets were almost flat. While the S&P 500 index edged lower by 0.18% from its longest winning period in eight years, Dow Jones Industrial Average was down by 0.10%, reaching 13,881.93. The U.S. markets followed the following news:
- Investors focus on the Federal Reserve’s two-day policy meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Investors also are waiting for GDP data on Wednesday and employment data on Friday
- Higher-than-estimated corporate earnings from Caterpillar
- Explanations from Fitch about a ratings downgrade for U.S. Fitch said that temporarily extention of the debt ceiling limit would decrease the downgrade pressure on U.S. economy.
